Your attendance will help empower vulnerable adolescent girls to stay in school and avoid forced child marriage, early pregnancy and disease in Uganda, East Africa.

Honoring Viola Davis

Activist, Humanitarian, Actor, and winner of the 2017 Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in Fences.

Join us as we honor the groundbreaking Viola Davis with Just Like My Child Foundation's 2017 Global Humanitarian Award for her dedication to the education and empowerment of vulnerable youth.

As the first black actor to win the Triple Crown of Acting, including a Tony Award, a history-making Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her work on How to Get Away with Murder, and three-time Oscar-nominated performances in The Help (2011), Doubt (2008) and her recent win for her role in Fences (2017), she is an inspiration to women and girls all around the world. Her willingness to share her journey of overcoming poverty inspire and influence us all. Her commitment to bettering our world through her work with the Hunger Is Foundation, Vaseline Foundation’s global initiative and her charitable support of educational programs.

Davis, named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in 2017, is the embodiment of an empowered woman, who grew up and out of an extraordinary tale of poverty to find her inner-calling. As an actor and producer, she is an agent of change dedicated to telling the uplifting stories of women and triumph. Actress and Activist Regina Hall, Mistress of Ceremonies
Star of Think Like a Man, Law Abiding Citizen, and Scary Movie, Regina Hall began her acting career in the late 1990’s while simultaneously earning a master’s degree from New York University. With numerous film and television credits to her name, Regina Hall has emerged as one of Hollywood’s most sought after comedic actresses.

Most recently, Hall has starred in the TV series Grandfathered and Black-ish, in addition to Barbershop: The Next Cut. Hall also starred in About Last Night opposite Kevin Hart. For the filming of the documentary A Path Appears, she accompanied New York Times Op-Ed Columnist Nicholas Kristof to the Women’s Resource Center and Men Stopping Violence in Atlanta, Georgia. She has recently starred in When the Bough Breaks and The Best Man Wedding. She can soon be seen in Girls Trip as the leading lady, with supporting actresses Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifah, in theaters July 21st.

Named one of Time’s “100 Most Influential People” and awarded “Outstanding Chef” by the James Beard Foundation, José Andrés is an internationally-recognized culinary innovator, author, educator, humanitarian, and chef. A pioneer of Spanish tapas in the United States, he is also known for his groundbreaking avant-garde cuisine and his award-winning group of 26 restaurants including the Bazaar by José Andrés at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.

 Afterparty and Dancing with DJ Tendaji Lathan
A regular fixture on the Los Angeles club scene, Tendaji has done countless parties at L.A. hottest clubs. Maria is a member of the Just Like My Child Foundation Board of Directors and is the Vice Chair of Rady Children's Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. Her passions are traveling, cooking and spending time with her family.

Marni Battista

Marni Battista has a Masters in Education and is a Certified Life Coach by the International Coaching Federation. She is also a Master Practitioner at administering an Energy Assessment, “The D-Factor,” that helps clients pinpoint exactly why they are, or are not date-able, and what types of messages they are unconsciously broadcasting to others based on their thoughts, feelings, actions and attitudes. Marni is also trained as a Facilitator and Mentor Trainer by the Hoffman Institute, a world-renowned leader in personal development. Allison Samuels

Allison has spent the last 18 years as a writer for Newsweek magazine and now also writes for its sister site The Daily Beast. For nearly two decades Samuels has covered sports, entertainment, fashion and politics for the weekly publication and continues to focus a great deal on the impact of race in the worlds of sports, politics and Hollywood. Samuels has interviewed and written extensively about the likes of First Lady Michelle Obama, Denzel Washington, Bill Cosby, Magic Johnson, Oprah Winfrey, Tupac Shakar, The Dali Lama, Tom Hanks and Michael Jordan.Samuels regularly volunteers for the Boys and Girl’s club in south central Los Angeles as well as other groups focusing on children at risk.
